What do you do when life gives you a chance to take an unexpected break? 👀⌛️
Enjoying the scorching heat yet? Gotta tell you! It’s not comfortable BUT I love summer so much! NYC offers so much entertainment during this time! It is also so easy to get friends to stay active with me 😁💪🏼 🧗🏻♀️🏊🏻♀️🏃🏻♀️.
A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to take a break and walk the St. James way… long story short, I embarked on a 12-day walking journey from Porto, Portugal to Santiago de Compostela, Spain. This is a popular pilgrimage so if you are interested, I encourage you to look into it! I greatly enjoyed the experience.
The pilgrimage is mostly known as the “Camino” and as you walk past the beautiful medieval coastal towns, locals and pilgrims all wish you a Buen Camino. The culture is so warm, welcoming, the food is simple but very fresh and much needed after walking for several hours under the Iberian sun.
Some things didn’t go as I thought they would but I did find what I was “looking” for: mental clarity, human connection, physical detoxification and a renewed sense of peace. I befriended a lot of people in the Camino, exchanged life stories, life experiences, sorrows, happiness, meals, blister stories, and so much more. I’m so humbled by the experience and richness every single person brought to my life. Life can be so enjoyable when we focus on what matters: good company, meaningful conversation, simple nourishing foods and the experience that it is to be a human on this planet. Regardless of age, socioeconomic background, ethnicity, language, size, or reasons for embarking on said a journey. The Camino de Compostela is definitely a metaphor for what life is all about. We walk on our own, at our own pace, with our own goals but there is a lot of community around; help and companionship is as close and as simple as saying “hi, how is your day going”?
I’m back in this wonderful city with more energy to let life to unroll as it is mean to, allow the world to be kind to me whilst working hard on my hopes and dreams. Everything happens at the right time. Everything happens for a reason. Fighting against the current makes things a lot harder. Turns out, mindset really is what makes the biggest difference when challenges show up in life.
So! Let’s laugh a little louder. Love a lot more. Trust the journey. Take Risks. Assess the path you are on as often as possible. Be grateful for the opportunities, successes and lessons that are right in front of you! When was the last time you took some time to evaluate where you are and where you going? I’d love to hear your stories!
